PROFESSOR BECAME DEAN OF BROWN UNIVERSITY

Indian American professor Tejal Desai has been named the next dean of the school of engineering at Brown University, an Ivy League university, in Providence, Rhode Island.
An accomplished biomedical engineer and academic leader, Desai will begin her tenure on September 1, 2022, succeeding Lawrence Larson, who has been serving as the inaugural dean of Brown School of Engineering since 2011. As a dean, Desai will lead the third oldest engineering programme in the United States and the oldest in an Ivy League university.
“A professor and researcher who has led academic programmes at the University of California, San Francisco, and Boston University among others, Desai will work to expand collaborative engineering research and teaching,” a release from the Brown School of Engineering said.
