Through Bollywood, many Egyptians have fostered a personal connection with Hindi films. The former President Gamal Abdel Nasser attended the 7th Filmfare Awards in Bombay in 1960, and the current President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will be present as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
