Recent attacks on southern Turkish soil have led the country to take a hard stance against terrorism, both ideologically and militarily. Turkish tanks were sent into Syrian territory in order to help the Free Syrian Army capture a border town. This border town, Jarabulus, was the last town on the Syrian-Turkish border that ISIS still held sway over. However, according to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s foray into Syria does not end with this skirmish. Rather, it is part of a battle both against ISIS and against another group that Ankara opposes, Kurdish fighters.
