CHICAGO PASSES GUN CONTROL LAW
A new gun law signed by the Governor of Illinois takes a hard stance against the gun violence that pervades the nation, but more specifically, Chicago. It forbids anyone from selling a firearm without valid identification. The penalty associated with breaking the law is anywhere from 4 to 20 years, depending on the severity of the transgression. For repeat offenders, a 30 year sentence could also be imposed. The law declared gun sales without an ID a felony, whereas before they were simply misdemeanors. Offenders could get 5 years max. Pro-gun advocates play down the violence.
