KHAN PARENTS RESPOND TO TRUMP’S COMMENTS
At the DNC, the parents of fallen Muslim American soldier Humayun Khan gave a speech lambasting Donald Trump’s comments about the lack of equivalence between Muslims and Americans. Trump then responded by saying that Khan’s mother, Ghazala Khan, was not allowed to speak due to restrictive Muslim culture. Ghazala Khan responded with an opinion piece in the Washington Post attributing her silence at the convention to her attempts to overcome grief at her son’s death. Khan’s father, Khizr Khan, said Trump lacked the one necessary quality of a leader: empathy.
