TED CRUZ STANDS ALONE
It’s a sight that we thought we would never see. The Republicans’ Republican, the epitome of a conservative, the personification of the GOP, Ted Cruz was booed off the stage at the Republican National Convention. This reaction came after Cruz refused to endorse Trump in his speech, instead arguing that voters should vote the way their conscience tells them to. Angered by the Texas senator’s refusal to endorse the nominee, the Texas delegation held a meeting in which Cruz was questioned harshly. In response, Cruz said that he was not in the business of supporting those who had come after his family, as Trump did multiple times throughout the campaign. Cruz faced massive backlash as a result of his speech, with many Republicans displaying anger, disappointment and fury. In a power play by the GOP nominee, Trump tweeted out that he saw Cruz’s speech two hours before he gave it and still let him speak.
