JAYALALITHAA SUBMITS AMENDMENTS TO GST BILL

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently received a set of amendments to the Goods and Services Tax bill, commonly known as the GST bill, from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. She argued that, without these changes, the current GST bill would restrict the Tamil Nadu government. Jayalalithaa’s meeting with Modi came in the wake of an announcement by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley that a majority of the states had expressed accord with the GST bill, and only Tamil Nadu had concerns. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister gave the PM a memorandum that contained nearly 30 things considered important to the state.
