IPL 2016: SEASON 9

GUJARAT LOINS BEAT KNIGHT RIDERS

Dreadful batting by the Kolkata Knight Riders has cost them their match against the Gujarat Lions in Green Park, Kanpur in the 51st match of the Indian Premier League. This is the famous ground where Gundappa Viswanath made a heroic century on his Test debut against Australia 47 years ago, but somebody forgot to tell the Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen to look into the record books. After being asked to bat first, the Kolkata Knight Riders huffed and puffed, hardly able to get the ball off the square, and reached nowhere in getting to 124 for 8 wickets. Dwayne Smith had a ball, taking four wickets for 8 runs off his four overs, which must perhaps be the best bowling analysis in T20 cricket in terms of wickets and runs ratio. And the Gujarat Lions captain Suresh Raina ensured that his team did not let down their bowlers, Raina himself hammering an unbeaten 53 to take his side home with more than seven overs to spare.
