IPL 2016: SEASON 9

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kings XI Punjab by the photofinish margin of one run in Mohali in a pulsating match in the 39th encounter in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Batting first after being inserted in as has been the norm in this tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a none-too-bad score of 175 for six wickets, with AB de Villiers performing the lead role with a power-packed 64 off 35 balls. Lokesh Rahul made a vital 42 off 25 deliveries. The Kings XI Punjab captain Murali Vijay took two brilliant catches, including one off a skier that could possibly have sent any fielder into a dizzy. In response, the Kings XI Punjab had a rapid-fire start to their innings with Hashim Amla and captain Murali Vijay leading from the front, rattling off 45 in less than six overs. Hashim Amla fell for 21 but Murali Vijay continued, smacking his way to 89 off as few as 57 balls with twelve fours and one six. However once Murali Vijay fell, the Kings XI batsmen did not have the firepower to take it home, as Marcus Stoinis and Farhaan Behardien tried valiantly to get to the target but fell agonizingly short to lose by the heartbreaking margin of one run. Shane Watson was declared the Man of the Match for his decisive spell of 2 for 22 off four overs in a fantastic spell that turned the match in his team's favor.
