FINAL OF THE WORLD CUP T20 WEST INDIES VS ENGLAND
The T20 World Cup moves to Kolkata's Eden Gardens, the coliseum where the most epic battle in the history of Test cricket took place exactly 15 years ago. This was the venue where two legendary cricketers VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid playing for India upset the Australian applecart, adding 376 runs for the fifth wicket, staging the most dramatic fightback in the game and snatching a win for India from a most hopeless position. Laxman, Dravid and Harbhajan combined to convert a 274-run first innings deficit into a 171-run victory over a then-worldclass Australian team consisting of all time greats Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting. On this occasion it remains to be seen what prevails --- fortitude or firepower. England have some resilient cricketers in Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali each of whom is a match winner but West Indies have their own brand of firepower in Chris Gayle, Lendl Simmons and Andre Russell who can belt the ball into the roofs of the stands as they showed against India yesterday in Mumbai.
