CRICKET UPDATE ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2016

SOUTH AFRICA VS SRI LANKA: SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 8 WICKETS.

South Africa registered a convincing 8-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in an inconsequential match in Delhi today. Aaron Phangiso starred with the ball for South Africa taking 2 for 26 while Hashim Amla hit an unbeaten 56 for the victors.

However let us get down to the classic India Australia contest. The 27th of March 2016 will be remembered as Virat Kohli's day as he becomes the toast of the entire cricket crazy nation of India, playing an electrifying, stunning and unbelievable knock and almost single-handedly helping India crush Australia to reach the semifinals of the T20 World Cup. Chasing 161 to win off their 20 overs India were in dire straits at 94 for four with 14 overs already gone, another 67 needed to win and only 36 balls left. But Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni kept the pressure on the Australian bowlers and fielders stealing quick singles, converting ones into twos with some hair-raising running between the wickets before Virat Kohli exploded -- and how!!!! With 39 runs required off 18 balls, Kohli took center stage in expertly maneuvering the ball between the fielders, and coming up with some sensational strokes as he brought India closer to victory with every ball. Kohli blazed away, hitting 19 runs off over No. 18 bowled by James Faulkner, with two fours and a six as the crowd went berseck but India still needed 20 off the last twelve balls of the match. Virat Kohli then sent the jampacked crowd into utter jubilation and pandemonium as he hammered four fours off Nathan Coulter Nile in the 19th over, reducing the target to just 4 runs in the final over. Dhoni hit the winning boundary but it was Virat Kohli the star of the day as he went down on his knees, trying to soak it all up in what could easily be his greatest innings in T20 cricket. India, riding on Virat Kohli's magnificent innings are through to the semifinals, and will be playing against the West Indies in Mumbai on Thursday. And Australia have been knocked out of the tournament.

New Zealand will be taking on England in the first semifinal in Delhi on Wednesday.
