BEN CARSON ENDS PRESIDENTIAL BID

In a statement that came as a surprise to his voters on Friday, Dr. Ben Carson announced that he would be leaving the campaign trail. Carson said that he had done the math, looked at the delegate counts, and worked out that it simply would not be possible for his presidential bid to end successfully. While Carson did not endorse another candidate, he did say that he would continue to be involved in the affairs of state. My Faith Votes, a Christian organization, named Dr. Carson as its chairman. Carson ended his statement saying that while he had been happy in retirement, he had felt compelled to run by his supporters and God, adding that it was an experience he would never forget.

DONALD TRUMP BACKTRACKS ON FOREIGN POLICY

In the Republican presidential debate on Thursday, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump reiterated his position on dealing with ISIS, saying that “we should go for waterboarding, and we should go for tougher than waterboarding”. Trump did an interview with CNN recently where he advocated for the war crime of killing of terrorists’ families in order to stop them. However, he reversed this stance on Friday, saying that he understood the ramifications of such actions, and that he understood there were laws binding both him and the military. Despite his recantation, Trump still faces condemnation from generals and military officials for his endorsement of war crimes.

EVIDENCE ON OJ SIMPSON CASE RESURFACES

One of the most sensational murder trials in American history was revitalized Friday as police discovered new evidence in relation to the murder of Nicole Brown and Rob Goldman by former football player OJ Simpson. Los Angeles Police said in a statement Friday that a knife was found on Simpson’s estate in Brentwood, California. A former LAPD officer allegedly had the knife in his possession since the 90s, and LAPD Captain Andy Neiman says the circumstances surrounding the officer’s possession of the knife are still mysterious. Officials do not know why the officer waited so long to turn the knife over, or if it has any relevance to Simpson’s case. Alan Dershowitz, a member of Simpson’s legal team, said that Simpson would not be tried again, because this late discovery was indicative of shoddy work done by the LAPD.

CLINTON PROPOSES PLAN TO BOOST WORKING CLASS

In a speech reminiscent of Bernie Sanders, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton laid out a plan that would incentivize companies to stay domestic, giving American workers a boost. Her plan was met with some skepticism, as Bernie Sanders pointed out that Clinton had back the North American Free Trade Agreement 20 years ago, which hurt American workers. Clinton countered by saying that the Democratic party needs to unite, and they cannot do that by fighting 20 year old battles. She added that new ideas are needed, that a presidential candidate needs to come up with talking points, and bring up issues that need to be addressed.
